At the halfway mark in 2025, it's a good time to pause and reflect on how much we've achieved. With innovative product developments, global recognition, and meaningful partnerships, the year so far has been marked by innovation, collaboration, and continued dedication to the AAC and digital health communities.

Scene & Heard Pro – Exciting New Feature Updates

At the beginning of 2025, the Therapy Box team developed an update to Scene & Heard Pro to offer even more tools for creative, user-initiated communication. This included:

  • Scale Hotspots – Perfect for showing likes, emotions, and ratings

  • Timers – Helpful for habits, timetabling, and activity tracking

  • Customisable Order of Hotspot Actions – Giving more control to users with complex hotspot actions

  • Visual Timetable Innovations – Allowing multiple timetables, different designs and the ability to mark actions off the timetable as they are completed.

We have also published a Scene Library on our website, offering starter scenes and inspiration for developing interesting, personalised visual displays. These can be downloaded and imported into Scene & Heard Pro on your device.

Predictable - Collaborations and Support

Predictable continues to be an extremely popular choice for text-based AAC in 2025, trusted by thousands of users around the world for its powerful features This year, we have partnered with ElevenLabs to provide access to Free Voice Clones for Predictable users with ALS/MND, MSA and Mouth Cancer. We continue to update this integration within our app to allow for the smoothest set-up and most optimal use.

We released a comprehensive Support Video Library, offering bite-sized, easy-to-understand tutorials for every setting up point through advanced features.

We’ve also continued working closely with users and clinicians to ensure Predictable stays both powerful and easy to use, refining the experience one update at a time.

Colourful Semantics - Gaining Popularity

Though released at the end of 2024, Colourful Semantics has truly found its stride in 2025. It’s become one of our most well-received tools for supporting sentence structure and language development, with consistently positive feedback from teachers, SLPs, and parents.

Its popularity continues to grow, with more professionals integrating it into classrooms and therapy sessions across the UK.

CognoSpeak Expands: CognoStroke & CognoMND

Building on the success of our CognoSpeak, a collaborative project with the team at the University of Sheffield, we added two exciting additions this year: CognoMND and CognoStroke.

Both tools, still in the research stage, are designed to complement existing clinical workflows, offering faster, more scalable assessment methods for clinicians working with stroke and MND populations.

We were especially proud to see Prof Christopher McDermott, leading the the CognoMND Project, win the Sheila Essey Award. This award recognises individuals who have made significant research contributions in the search for the causes of, prevention of, and cure for ALS.

The MARS Project – A New Collaboration

Our work with City, University of London on the MARS Project (Machine Analysis and Reporting of Spoken personal stories with aphasia) continues to be an exciting research project for the team. We’re thrilled to be part of such a forward-thinking collaboration, and look forward to sharing more as the project progresses.

Events & Community Engagement

Our commitment to support doesn't stop at development. In the first half of 2025, we’ve:

  • Taken part in Communication Matters' AAC Information Day in Belfast, showcasing our latest innovations

  • Presented live demos and training to therapy and education teams across the UK

  • Delivered countless one-to-one support calls and training sessions—ensuring every user and professional gets the most from our tools

Whether in-person or online, these moments remain at the heart of what we do: connecting with the people who use and champion our technology.

Global Recognition: WSIS 2025 Shortlist

We’re honoured to share that two Therapy Box apps (Predictable and Scene & Heard Pro) were shortlisted for the 2025 World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) Prizes. This recognition reflects the innovation, accessibility, and user-centred design that drives everything we create. To our users, clinicians, researchers, and partners - thank you. Your feedback, ideas, and collaboration are the foundation of everything we’ve achieved so far this year. Here’s to even more progress, impact, and connection in the months to come.
