Introducing Predictable 8

Predictable has supported thousands of people to communicate in a way that works for them.

With Predictable 8, we have built on the features people already trust, while introducing new tools to make communication faster, clearer and more personal.

This update, which began releasing today and will continue over the next few weeks, focuses on how Predictable fits into real life. Whether that is having a conversation, preparing for something new, or expressing yourself in a different way.

What’s new in Predictable 8

Build what you want to say, more quickly

The new Phrase Builder helps you create useful phrases in seconds.

You can add a simple prompt or image and Predictable suggests a set of relevant phrases. This can help when you are preparing for an activity, planning a conversation, or thinking of what to say next. You can also now search phrases, making it quicker and easier to find what you need when you need it.

Communicate across languages

Live Translate supports conversations in real time.

When talking with someone who uses a language which is different to your own, you can record their speech and Live Translate will translate that speech into the primary language on your device so you can understand what the other person has said. It also then generates 3 responses you may wish to use – or you can write your own! Once you are ready to reply you can easily do so in the other language.

This helps in situations where language might otherwise be a barrier – and this feature has a handy information button so you can explain to the other person, in their language, how to use the tool.

Predictable 8 also expands its multilingual support, with additional secondary languages now available.

Make messages clearer

The Rewrite feature helps you adjust what you have written.

It can tidy up spelling or grammar, so your message is easier for others to understand, while keeping your meaning.

Try something more creative

AI Tunes* gives you a new way to express yourself.

You can turn ideas or lyrics into music. This opens a different way to share thoughts, feelings or creativity. You can choose the music style, theme and add your own lyrics to create a piece of music. Then you can save it for later or even record a video alongside it to create a music video!

A fresh look and more ways to personalise

Predictable 8 introduces a refreshed design with more choice and flexibility:

• A new default dark mode with a larger speak button

• Additional themes including Light, Predictable 7, Pink, Green, Blue, and Purple

• The option to keep a familiar look similar to Predictable 7

  
  

There are also new ways to personalise your experience:

• Customise feature key icons

• Add an image as your message window background

• Use a custom keyboard

• Print your layouts with Print Grid functionality

• Downloadable vocabulary to help you get started faster

Predictable 8 continues to build on the features people already rely on:

• Clear, high-quality speech

• Flexible access, including touch, switches and head tracking

• Custom grids and shortcuts

Important – before you update

Remember – if you currently use Predictable do not update to Predictable 8 until you have your login details. If you use alternative access, you will need someone with you to assist with the update.
